Another day in the beautiful Swiss Mountains

.......in the sun at a wine festival

Today we went to Malans, a gorgeous Village only 15 minutes drive away to the main wine region where the streets and houses are so Swiss and beautiful you feel like you are in some sort of film set. There were thousands of people mingling in the streets drinking wine and grappa and eating all sorts of amazing food from sausages, bratwurst, to risottos and icecreams. We enjoyed the sunshine and the company and met up with Ursi, a relative of Aninas who Bec has not seen in 10 years who used to live off Beach Road in Brighton. Ethan loved seeing the model trains and enjoyed playing in the sun. In the afternoon we went back to Jenaz and had some more wine with Anina's mum Claudia. We then all enjoyed a traditional Swiss meal of Raclette, where you sit together at the table and melt your cheese over hot potatoes using a Raclette machine. The children are now all tucked up in bed after another wonderful day playing together. Thank you to all involved in today for making our time here so special 🇨🇭

On top of the world........

feeling on top of the world

Today was totally amazing! After having a delicious lunch at Irene's and Edi's house we went up a mountain near Fanas on a cable car and spent the afternoon on a deck at a restaurant in the sun soaking up the magical views of the glorious Swiss Alps! Talk about beautiful - Irene, who took us to Mt Sasuana, works at the quant little restaurant and it was so wonderful to see where she works. We saw the snow on the top of the mountains, sunshine and fog all within the one afternoon. Ethan was so so so excited to go in the cable car which was so high up the mountain. He loved playing with some other children up there and they had diggers and trains for him which kept him entertained. This evening we have had a lovely time chatting around the table sampling Swiss wines and watching the kids play dress up with each other. We have having such an amazing time here:)

Day three Switzerland

Fun with the locals..........

Yesterday evening, Leandro and Seraina took us to their local school where they have a very cool thing called a Pump Track which has become quite famous - the one in Jenaz was the very first one, the local man who designed them came from Jenaz and now designs them for places like New York, Mexico and Thailand. Ethan tried very hard to keep up with them but had a few stacks on his bike. This morning we have had a wander around the village again and saw more cows and some lovely views. We are about to go to Irene's house for lunch - a friend of Anina's who came and stayed with us in Edithvale about 4 years ago. This afternoon we will go up another mountain to the cable cars.

From the village to the mountains

Ethan's first trip to the snow

After our breakfast we went for a wander around the village of Jenaz which was just lovely - the houses are so quintessential Swiss and we even came across cows walking in the street with their bells around their necks. What a treat that was. We met the family back at the house for lunch, here the kids come home for their main meal at lunch time and eat with their mum and dads. After lunch Anina drove us up to the local ski village so Ethan could see snow for the first time ever in his life. A unique treat given that this time of year there is normally no snow so close. Ethan loved playing around and making snowmen and we enjoyed a hot chocolate after our play in the chalet. Now Ethan is fast asleep on the couch after his big adventures. It is just so special being here with such a lovely family and enjoying being part of thier lives.

We have arrived in Switzerland.......

absolutely gorgeous amongst the mountains

We arrived into Zurich yesterday about 5pm and got to Anina's house at about 8pm. The train trip to Jenaz was amazing, along Lake Zurch which just went for miles. We had a lovely welcome and reunion from Anina, Pablo, Seraina and Leandro. So lovely to be in their beautiful home and sit down to a meal together and catch up on 10 years since I was here last. Ethan was in heaven with the amazing kids toys and even though the kids could not speak to each other to start with by the time they went to bed they were sharing words of English and German and having a great time. This morning we waved Seraina and Leandro off to school and are now enjoying a breakfast in the sun filled dining room overlooking the mountains. We have not left the house yet to explore but here are some pics to mark our arrival in Switzerland.
